Fun times at the sugar bush! PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Hilton Weekly Specials in the UK On March 25, 2010, the children and teachers from Kinderville Ottawa took a trip to the sugar bush...

We took a yellow school bus to get to the sugar bush which was an exciting first bus ride for some of our younger children.  When we got there we filled up two tractor pulled wagons and rode down into the sugar bush.

They served us homemade pancakes with fresh maple syrup - Delicious!  With full bellies everyone took a tour of the sugar bush.  We learned how maple syrup is made, how the sap has been collected through the ages and all about the different types of maple syrup.  Did you know it takes 40 - 60 gallons of sap to make one gallon of maple syrup?

Then we had taffy on snow.  It was oh so good and oh so sticky!  Good job we had lots of wipes!
After touring the sugar bush we loaded everyone back on to the wagon and headed back to the farm.  At the farm there was a petting zoo with some hungry goats, pigs, sheep and ducks and some of us even saw some Easter bunnies resting up before the big day.

Before we left we had just enough time to visit the playground and to slide down the giant slide on a potato sack.
It was a fantastic day with gorgeous weather and we all had a super time.
Many thanks to all the parents who joined us and the staff at Proulx sugar bush
